At extreme depths, life must be watery and blobby because hard parts would be crushed by the pressure. The bibby is mostly squish and cartilage with minimal bones so they look soft and cute!
I absolutely love the new M9 art! As someone who loves fantasy weapons and has drawn a lot of swords and other weapons for my dnd games I wanted to ask, out of all the art you've drawn for Critical Role what's been your favorite weapon to draw and why?
omg SEEDLING. I didn’t know it was happening, but Seedling was actually my very first job working on a CR game (I had done Uk'otoa stuff before then with CR, but it was my first character art).
It was my very first time drawing character art, it was for Liam Fucking O'Brien, I was nervous, I was thrilled, I wanted so badly to do well, but also I wanted to be cool. I wasn’t cool. I researched swords and design motifs and I sent back multiple pages of concepts with detailed notes about what I had dug up. I was almost embarrassed to turn anything in, that’s how sure I was that I had done too little, too much, or too… not what a Proper Artist is supposed to do.
And then I got back a note from a kind producer- “Yes. This is exactly what we want. You knocked it out of the park.”
I wouldn’t get back notes from Liam for a few days, but I still remember that afternoon with total clarity. A relatively brief time in my life that changed the direction completely.
Also it wasn’t named Seedling at the time. I assumed that Orym was for EXU only! And when he went on to be part of the main campaign, I assumed that it was a starter blade! But two years on and we’re still going strong, baby!
